Victorian homeowners may be eligible for a solar panel (PV) rebate under the following conditions:
As a Victorian householder, you could receive a solar panel (PV) rebate if:
- You are the owner-occupier of an existing property or the owner of a home under construction where the solar system will be installed.
- combined household taxable income of all owners is less than $210,000 per year
- The property’s value is under $3 million, whether for an existing home or once construction is complete.
- The property has not previously received a solar panel (PV) or solar battery rebate under this program.
- No solar panel (PV) system has been installed at the property address in the last 10 years
- If you have previously received a Solar Homes rebate or loan and have since moved, you may apply for another incentive at your new address, provided the property has not benefited from these rebates before.
Process for Solar Panel (PV) Installations

- Consult with an authorised solar retailer.
- Choose a system using products from the approved list that suit your energy requirements.
- Request a written quote (your retailer will upload it to the Solar Victoria portal).
- Wait for an email confirming the quote has been successfully uploaded.
- Obtain pre-approval to connect and export to the grid.
- Verify your eligibility – upload the required documents to the portal.
- Await confirmation of your eligibility and receive your QR code.
- Proceed with the installation of the solar system
